Maryland SSI Beneficiaries Receive November Funds on October 30
A federal weekend rule shifts the payment date, leaving Baltimore residents with a 32-day wait for their next check.

The federal payment calendar dictates that Social Security benefits issued on weekends or holidays arrive on the preceding business day. This standard procedure results in an early deposit for Supplemental Security Income recipients across the state of Maryland in late 2026.
The Social Security Administration will distribute the November SSI payment on Friday, October 30, because the first of November falls on a Sunday. The agency confirmed that this shift applies to all beneficiaries, moving the funds forward by two days to ensure recipients have money before the weekend begins.
This timing creates a specific financial gap for households in Baltimore City. The city contains approximately 27% of Maryland’s 114,248 SSI recipients, a figure based on the most recent county data published by the SSA in December 2024. For these residents, the October 30 deposit will be the only SSI check received during the month of November.
The next payment for the same group will not arrive until December 1. That 32-day interval requires beneficiaries to stretch their funds across two months. The SSA schedule indicates that December will see two deposits: one on December 1 for that month and another on December 31, which covers January benefits. The final deposit in the year must last through the end of January before the next cycle begins.
Beneficiaries should treat the October 30 transfer as their November income to avoid budget shortfalls. Rent and utility bills typically come due on the first of the month, which can make the early deposit appear as an extra payment. However, the amount remains the same monthly figure, not an additional benefit. In Maryland, SSI payments totaled about $88.2 million in December 2024, serving individuals with limited income and assets who are elderly, blind, or disabled.
Roughly 31,000 Marylanders receive both SSI and Social Security benefits. These dual recipients will see two separate deposits in the coming period. They will receive their SSI funds on October 30 and their Social Security benefits on November 3. The Social Security portion follows a different schedule based on the beneficiary’s birth date, distinct from the SSI weekend rule.
The agency also outlined the financial outlook for the following year. A 3.6% cost-of-living adjustment will apply to SSI benefits in 2027. The maximum federal payment for an individual will rise from $994 in 2026 to $1,029 in 2027. For a couple, the maximum payment will increase from $1,491 to $1,544. Personalized notices regarding these changes will appear in online accounts starting in late November.
Maryland’s state supplement remains limited in scope. It is available only to aged, blind, or disabled residents living in specific care homes or assisted living facilities. The state funds this add-on entirely, and children are not eligible. Those living independently receive only the federal amount. Beneficiaries who do not see their money on October 30 should allow three additional mailing days before contacting the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 or visiting a local field office.
