Gamblers and fans will see a high-scoring affair when the Cleveland Cavaliers host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Monday night. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Rocket Arena. The betting market places Cleveland as a 5.5-point favorite, with the over/under set at 231.5 points.

SportsLine, a data analytics firm, ran a simulation of the matchup 10,000 times to generate a projection. The model estimates a combined total of 236 points for the game. This figure sits above the current betting line, suggesting the total points scored will likely exceed the expected amount.

The statistical trend supports a high-scoring result. The over has hit in the last four meetings between these two teams. For Minnesota specifically, the over has hit in five of its last eight games. For Cleveland, the over has hit in seven of the last ten contests.

Minnesota enters the game with a 3-0 record, seeking to start the season perfectly. The Timberwolves finished third in the Northwest Division with a 49-33 record last season. They are currently 2-0 on the road in the 2026-27 campaign. Their most recent victory was a 117-94 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

Cleveland is 1-1 this season after falling to Brooklyn 125-121 on Saturday. The Cavaliers finished second in the Central Division with a 52-30 record a year ago. They are 1-0 at home in the current season. The team relies heavily on guard Donovan Mitchell, who is averaging 27 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.5 assists in two starts.

Minnesota's offense is led by guard Anthony Edwards, who is averaging 28.7 points, five rebounds, and 3.3 assists in three starts. However, Edwards is listed as questionable for Monday's game due to knee injury management. Six other Timberwolves players are currently averaging 12 or more points per game.

The SportsLine model has a 26-10 record on top-rated spread picks in the NBA since last season. It has generated nearly $19,000 in profit for $100 players on those top picks since 2018.
